Energy Bites

These are a new favorite healthy snack at our house - SO yummy - and the flaxseed is a great way to sneak in fiber without even tasting it!
I got the recipe from Gimme Some Oven

NO BAKE ENERGY BITES
INGREDIENTS:
  • 1 cup (dry) old-fashioned oats
  • 2/3 cup sweetened coconut flakes
  • 1/2 cup peanut butter
  • 1/2 cup ground flax seed
  • 1/2 cup chocolate chips
  • 1/3 cup honey
  • 1 tablespoon chia seeds
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

DIRECTIONS:

  1. Stir all ingredients together in a medium bowl until thoroughly mixed. Cover and let chill in the refrigerator for half an hour.
  2. Once chilled, roll into balls of whatever size you would like. (Mine were about 1" in diameter.) Store in an airtight container and keep refrigerated for up to 1 week.
  3. Makes about 20-25 balls.

Spring Break!

Many of you will be traveling this week or in the near future for Spring Breaks all around the country!  So, I wanted to post some skincare tips for when you travel. One of the most important times people should be caring for their skin is when they travel as the skin is likely to experience conditions it isn’t used to. From stuffy airplane cabins to the hot Caribbean sun, it can he hard to keep up a skincare routine, or adapt one for while you are away.

Stay Hydrated
Flying can be harsh on both the body and skin so it is important to make sure you keep hydrated during your flight. Drink lots of water and cleanse your face with an exfoliating scrub before the flight. If you are concerned about wrinkles, follow up with a plumping serum before finishing with a moisturizer. This will help your skin look bright and lock in moisture. For an added refresher, bring along cleansing towelettes if you have a long flight.

Research The Climate
If you are travelling somewhere hot, you will need a skincare routine that will keep you protected from the sun and hydrated.  Choose a moisturizer that has at least SPF 30 that you can bring with you to reapply as needed. For cold weather climates, make sure you pack an intense moisturizing cream and consider a repairing oil as well to give your skin some extra support.

Pamper Your Skin
Even if you are going on a vacation away from the stresses of daily life, traveling is still harsh on your skin. Take some time to pamper your skin when you arrive at your destination by using a soothing facial mask. It doesn’t take long to apply and you only need to leave masks on for about 15 minutes before washing them off and revealing more radiant skin.

Leave the Makeup at Home
This may be a hard one for some, but going makeup-free on planes will allow you to hydrate your skin when needed on long flights, and you won’t be left with mascara all over your cheeks if you fall asleep. If you can’t “bare” the thought of not wearing makeup, opt for a light mineral powder foundation that will sit lightly on your skin instead of a heavy liquid foundation that can actually be quite drying during air travel.

Micro-Dermabrasion Paste

It's almost Spring!!  While it's time to put away our winter coats and snow boots, it's also time to exfoliate all those dead skin cells away and renew our skin for cell turnover. I must tell you about one of my favorite Rodan + Fields products that I just started using last month - it is AMAZING!  Hands down, the best exfoliant scrub I have ever used -
We all know that exfoliation is one of the most important steps in skin care. Removing old, dead skin cells from the skin's surface reveals the newer, healthier skin beneath. Exfoliating keeps skin clean, unclogs pores, evens skin tone and helps reduce acne breakouts.  Infused with Vitamin C & E to nourish the skin, you can use this Micro-Dermabrasion paste up to 3x a week.

The first time I used it - I applied it to my dry skin (as the instructions state) and massaged it around for a good minute. When I rinsed it off afterwards, I was SHOCKED by how smooth my face was.  It is definitely the most effective exfoliant I have ever used and I've tried a lot in my 41 years! You need to remember to follow up with a good moisturizer (preferably Rodan + Fields Night Renewing Serium or Overnight Restorative Cream) as you will be sloughing all those old skin cells.  Your skin will feel like butter afterwards and in the morning!

If you don't start using this now, you are missing a huge step in your skincare routine that could make a HUGE difference!  Don't forget - with PC status - you get 10% off and free shipping!!
