You Are What You Eat: Pumpkin Smoothie Bowl

Weight Loss

What better news to hear around this time of year, than being able to lose weightwhile preparing for upcoming holidays. There’s really no need for us to feel any pressure when we have such an amazing bounty of fall’s best at our disposal (literally!).
Pumpkins can be overlooked as a good source of fiber, but that’s because we can get all caught up in the marshmallow-laden pumpkin casseroles and rich pie desserts, that we may only think negatively about their benefits.
Pumpkins have three grams of fiber per one-cup serving and only 49 calories—keeping you feeling full longer with fewer calories. And let’s not forget that a fiber-rich diet does seem to help us eat less, and ultimately, shed pounds [1].

Protects Your Skin

As with all areas of our health and beauty, it really starts with our insides and which foods we choose to implement into our daily lives. Good news is, pumpkin is packed with fruit enzymes and alpha hydroxy acids (AHAs)—increasing cell turnover—brightening and smoothing the skin.
Pumpkin also contains antioxidants vitamin A and  C which will help soften and soothe the skin, and in the process, boosting collagen production to keep our skin fresh and looking our best.

Boost Your Mood

When our insides are functioning and feeling at their best, then our entire wellbeing (including our mood), are at their best. And who doesn’t want to be in a good mood?! We can help spread the love and bliss across the whole world, by changing our vibration. :)
This is another area where pumpkin comes to our rescue, being rich in the amino acid tryptophan. This amino acid is important in production of serotonin—a major influence when it comes to our mood—helping to keep our outlook bright.
One cup of cooked pumpkin contains more than 11 milligrams—nearly 20 percent of the 60 milligrams that’s typically recommended for women’s daily needs.
Pumpkin really is a solid source of essential nutrients and should be added to our beauty foods rotation. And remember, if you’re in a bind and unable to prepare fresh pumpkin, organic pumpkin puree in cartons is an option (rather than aluminum cans)!
What are we waiting for? Let’s get prepping! ;)
