Thanksgiving Is Just 3 Weeks Away!

As you get ready for the Thanksgiving dinner, consider how to make your family feast delicious and healthy—and get big benefits for your skin. Here are five Thanksgiving staples that will have your skin glowing with gratitude.
Turkey: High in protein and selenium, turkey also contains plenty of iron, B vitamins and zinc, which helps produce collagen, the structural protein that gives our skin its firm-looking, youthful appearance. Here’s a turkey tip: When asked whether you prefer dark or white meat, consider the dark meat, which contains twice the amount of riboflavin and zinc as the white meat.
Sweet Potatoes: Try swapping classic mashed spuds for sweet potatoes, which contain over 200 percent of your daily Vitamin A needs. Vitamin A is an excellent source of antioxidants, which fight free radical damage and help normalize skin cell division.
Cranberries: These bright berries have been named one of the top 25 superfoods for their nutrient and antioxidant properties. But make sure you skip the congealed cranberries in a can and go for the real (unsweetened!) thing.
Green Beans: Nutrient-dense green beans are loaded with the anti-aging superstar Vitamin C, which helps shield skin from free radicals that can contribute to wrinkles, dull skin, fine lines and more.
Pumpkin: This holiday favorite takes the prize for skin nutrition, whether it’s consumed or applied topically. Brimming with fruit enzymes and alpha hydroxy acids (AHAs), topically applied pumpkin helps increase cell turnover and brighten the skin. When eaten, pumpkin’s skin-saving beta-carotene and Vitamin C help protect your skin against sun damage.
